Derby based companies join forces to free up materials for PPE Equipment

Two Derby based companies, MW Polymers and Derby Foam & Upholstery Supplies have joined forces to free up essential foam supplies used to make face visors for the NHS and Care workers.

MW Polymers who produce industrial sealants, coatings and adhesives and are classed as a critical supplier to the gas industry, include a foam cleaning pad in their PE Repair Kits, used to repair gas pipe leakages nationwide by all the UK’s Gas suppliers.

They were contacted by Mark Law at Derby Foam and Upholstery Supplies to see if the foam he
supplied to them, could be changed slightly to a temporary alternative product which would allow producers of face visors to be supplied with the foam. The foam shapes are used to make wearing the visors for long periods more comfortable and are a crucial part of personal protective equipment used by the NHS and Care sector workers in the fight against the COVID pandemic.

Mike Wild, Managing Director at MW Polymers didn’t hesitate when Mark asked if they could use a temporary alternative product in thier PE Repair kits.

Mike commented: “Its important our key workers have the PPE equipment they need to carry out
the great work they are doing for us all, so when Mark approached us about supplying the
alternative product for our PE Repair kit we didn’t hesitate to do our bit. Mark was able to source an alternative product to allow the foam strips we normally use to be supplied to medical equipment suppliers instead.
